February 6, 2012: Sheriff Bradley D. Rogers – Elected by a resounding margin in November 2010, Brad has committed himself to reducing the rate of repeat offenders by changing hearts and minds. Community corrections initiatives, including faith-based counseling and educational opportunities for inmates, are at the forefront as he takes office.

Brad’s interest in law enforcement began early in life, and he entered public service soon after graduating from college. He joined the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department in 1987, and worked his way through the ranks to become a division commander in 2004.

With his experience to draw on and commitment to issues about which he feels strongly, he emerged from a competitive primary to become the Republican nominee for sheriff. Brad won the general election with more than 73 percent of the vote.

Married with three children, Brad is the scoutmaster of New Paris Boy Scouts Troop 12. He is a member of the Oaklawn board of directors, and also is the department’s liaison to many groups, including a panel chartered by State Rep. Wes Culver to develop comprehensive initiatives to identify and address recidivism issues.

Brad is a graduate of Goshen High School and the University of Evansville. He worked for the University of Texas Police Department prior to returning to Elkhart County. Brad has served in the ranks of corporal (patrol, promoted in 1995), lieutenant (administration, promoted in 1997) and captain (corrections, promoted in 2003).
